GHIYASUDDIN TUGHLAQ’S TOMB

GHIYASUDDIN TUGHLAQ’S TOMB is situated in the south of the fortress of Tughlaqabad, New Delhi. It is built by Ghiyasuddin Tughlak. Ghiyas-ud-din was the first ruler of the Tughlaq dynasty. He was about fortifying everything in sight; he fortified his tomb as well. What against is hard to say, probably Mongols who took the term happy hunting ground too literally.

Legends behind the tomb :-
Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq was fond of building monuments and buildings and in keeping with his penchant for building activities; he decided that a new city should be built in Delhi, and that city is none other than Tughlakabad. It was during that time itself that the dargah (tomb) of Hazrat Nizamuddin was being built in the colony of Nizamuddin stands. Being the ruler, he asked the entire labour force engaged in constructing the dargah to help in building the new city of Tughlakabad. It is said that this angered the Hazrat who cursed him that he would not return to Delhi after he undertook the exercise of his war in Bengal. According the strange circumstances when the structure where he was to be accorded a welcome and which was set up by his son and successor, Mohammed Bin Trghlaq, the crazy king who shifted his capital from Delhi only to return after a short while, collapsed.
