Mysore palace - famous monuments

Mysore palace is one of the most attractive monuments of India. It is situated at Mirza road, Mysore city, in the state of Karnataka, Southern India. It is also known as ‘Amba vilas’ and ‘Maharaja Palace’. The original building made of wood was burnt down in a major fire in 1897. Thereafter present structure which is situated at mysore built by the fourth Wodeyar king in 1912. The affluent palace designed by architect Henry Erwin is a treasure trove of rare artifacts and exquisite work of art brought here from around the world.

About the mysore Palace
Mysore
is the cultural capital of karnataka. Mysore Palace is one of the famous tourist attractions of India. It visited by hundreds of people from India as well as outside the India daily. The construction of the same building was completed in 1912. The construction value was about Rs. 42 lacs.
The palace built in Indo- Saracenic style with domes, Turrets, arches and colonnades, with palace is the treasure house of exquisite carving works of art from all our the world. Intricately carved doors open on to luxuriously furnished rooms. The majestic darbar hall (court) has an ornate ceiling and many sculpted pillars. The magnificent jewel studded golden throne of the Wodeyars is displayed the Dussera festival. Dasara is the famous festival for Mysore palace. This festival has been celebrated in Mysore city with great pomp for many centuries and the tradition still is carried on although the scale of the celebrations has diminished.

Mysore palace is situated to just 1 km from the Mysore bus stands and about
3 km from city railway station.
Visiting Hours: 10 a.m. to 5-30 p.m. (daily)
Entry Fee: Rs 15 per head.
Instruction: - Photography is prohibited inside the Palace, Shoes have to be left outside at the entrance
